Petrobras released a note Wednesday (Apr 29) announcing the conclusion of an oil well at the largest depth of water on the Brazilian coast— 2,988m. The project's total depth, including both the water and the soil, totals 6,060m.
According to the state-controlled firm, the well is located 94km from the Aracaju, state capital of Sergipe, in the country's northeast. The oil giant holds 100% interest on this exploration block, and test results have confirmed the presence of light oil, which has a higher market value.
