Brazil's balance of trade reported $2.379 billion surplus in July. The result – which is the largest for the month of July since 2012 – was produced by $18.526 billion in exports and $16.147 billion in imports.

During the year, the balance accumulated surplus is $ 4.599 billion, which is also the highest for the period since 2012.

According to data released Monday by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), both exports and imports fell compared to July 2014. The trade surplus was due to a larger drop in imports.

Exports fell 19.5% and Brazil's overseas sales dropped 24.8%, according to daily average, which corresponds to financial volume per business day.

On the export side, there were drops of gains on items, including crude oil, iron ore, smoke and leaves, coffee beans, beef, soybean meal, fuel oils, earthmoving machinery, cast iron, soybean oil, leather and animal skins.

On the import side, Brazil purchased less fuel and lubricants, raw materials and intermediate goods, consumer goods and capital goods.
