Federal Public Debt up 2.53% in February

The Federal Public Debt rose 2.53% in February compared to January, going from $744.02 million to $762.96 million. The figures were disclosed by the National Treasury today (Mar. 28).

The government can finance debt by issuing government securities online (Tesouro Direto) or through direct issuances. It may also sign loan agreements to borrow money.

Public debt issuances totaled $15.08 billion, whereas redemptions amounted to $4.51 billion, for a resulting net issuance of $10.57 billion.
