Government forecasts inflation of 7.44% and GDP down 3.05% in 2016

For this year, the federal government forecasts a larger fall in GDP (gross domestic product, the sum of all good and services produced in the country) than the one estimated in February. Instead of declining 2.94%, as calculated last month, the economic staff is now working with a drop of 3.05%.
Inflation forecast for 2016 also increased, from 7.1% to 7.44%. The changes are reported in the Evaluation Report for Revenues and Expenses, released Tuesday (Mar. 22) by the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management.
The document includes the updated forecasts for the government's revenue, expenses, and targets, in addition to revised projections for key economic indicators. The document will be sent to Congress and will give grounds for monitoring the implementation of the budget.
