Gov't expects $55 billion trade surplus in 2017

If estimates prove true, the amount will be Brazil's highest balance

The government has forecast a surplus of $55 billion for the Brazilian balance of trade in 2017. The estimate was announced Tuesday (May 2) by the Secretary for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade, and Services Abrão Neto.

If the estimate proves true, the amount will sur the $47.69 billion ed in 2016, which currently represents the country's highest surplus in the balance of trade since the beginning of this time series, initiated in 1989.
