Transfers under instant payment system Pix set new daily record

The Brazilian Central Bank’s instant transfer system, Pix, set a new record last Friday (Jun. 6). For the first time, the system approached 280 million transactions in 24 hours.

Last Friday (6) alone, 276.7 million transfers were made via Pix to end s. The previous daily record had been set on December 20, 2024—252.1 million transactions.

In of values, BRL 135.6 billion was transacted last Friday. The amount is the fourth highest in history for one day. The record in values was also recorded on December 20, when BRL 162.9 billion were handled.

“The figures are a further demonstration of the importance of Pix as a public digital infrastructure for promoting financial inclusion, innovation, and competition in the provision of payment services in Brazil,” the Central Bank said in a statement.

Created in November 2020, Pix had amassed 175.47 million s by the end of May, as per the most recent monthly statistics. Of these, 159.92 million were individuals and 15.56 million were companies.

In April, according to the most recent consolidated data, the system sured the BRL 2.677 trillion mark.
