The Rio de Janeiro State Public Prosecution filed the indictment of Caio Silva de Souza and Fábio Raposo on Monday (Feb. 17). They are charged with criminal explosion and malicious homicide aggravated by defenselessness of the victim and use of explosive material.
Souza and Rapozo are suspected of firing a firecracker at Bandeirantes TV cameraman Santiago Andrade during a bus fare protest in Rio on February 6, which resulted in Andrade's death.
According to the indictment, Raposo – who was wearing a gas mask – and Souza walked side by side to the place where the explosive was lit, with their faces wrapped in T-shirts.
Prosecutor Vera Regina de Almeida has requested a remand order be issued against the two men, who are currently in custody under a 30-day temporary arrest warrant.
The judge – who is kept anonymous for security reasons – will consider the case for indictment. No deadlines have been disclosed so far.
