Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro decided to return from his trip to Israel early and will arrive in Brazil two hours before the original plan. He is expected to land in Brasília at around 6:40 pm Wednesday (Apr. 3).

Bolsonaro’s visit to the Brazilian town of Raanana, slated to take place Wednesday, has been changed, said the president’s spokesman Otávio do Rêgo Barros. His meeting with Brazilians should be held Tuesday (2), in Jerusalem.

“For logistic reasons, we’re bringing approximately 25 Brazilians who live in that community with the goal of having the president forge closer ties [with them] and also bring forward our return tomorrow, as he has a number of engagements scheduled with lawmakers aimed at our main goal, which is to speed up the proceedings of the pension reform,” he declared.

Bolsonaro confirmed he is to meet with party leaders on Thursday (4) after his return from Israel to convince them about the need for changing retirement rules. The president hopes to see the overhaul voted on in the lower house by June.

In Israel, the president had breakfast with investors and Israeli and Israeli-Brazilian executives and attended the opening ceremony of the Brazil–Israel business assembly. Next, Bolsonaro and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited an exhibition with products from innovation companies.
