Two agreements and three memoranda on technical and educational cooperation, public consultations, and cooperation between diplomatic academies were signed during a meeting with Brazil's acting President Michel Temer and Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan, held Friday (Aug. 12), in Brasília.
The agreement on educational cooperation should help bring universities from both countries closer together through initiatives like exchange programs for students, scientists, and experts. The pact also includes the development and expansion of scientific research projects.
The two governments also signed a deal on technical cooperation, whereby meetings will be held for assessing and ascertaining areas of common interest. The creation of groups for monitoring future initiatives is also expected under the deal.
One of the memoranda outlines cooperation actions in agriculture, with the exchange of experiences and information regarding crops, efforts designed to combat plant diseases, irrigation technologies, strain selection, livestock, and trade.
Two other memoranda signed aim at the diplomatic approximation between Brazil and Armenia. One of them involves the Rio Branco Institute, tied to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Armenia's Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The goal is to establish and develop cooperation efforts in the professional training of diplomats. The other memorandum includes the creation of work groups or teams of experts for the assessment of specific questions, which may be relevant to both nations.
